On what criteria can we objectively judge a campsite?
Criteria :
Experienced camper or novice, it is not always easy to judge, on the web, the quality of a campsite that one has never visited! The criteria of a family are not the same as those of a retired couple, for example, you must have a precise idea of your desires and needs to choose your campsite. If the main elements defining a holiday plan are easy to list - going in a tent, renting a mobile home, by the sea or in the mountains, in a campsite with or without a swimming pool - others are less so. On what criteria can we then objectively judge a campsite?
The stars :
If the stars are a first element of comparison, since they represent a classification of campsites according to their level of services.
However, stars are not the only indicator to take into account when judging the quality of a campsite!
In addition, we can of course be reassured about the level of comfort, the equipment available and the quality of the services offered by sorting the campsites by their number of stars.
Retailers :
With equal criteria, it can be reassuring to trust the major brands in the camping world. In the outdoor hotel industry, operating a site under the name of a large brand is often considered a guarantee of quality for customers. Indeed, the specifications are clear on what the campsite must offer its customers who, if they are not completely satisfied, can express their dissatisfaction. Too great a risk to take for any self-respecting quality campsite!
The localisation :
Whether the campsite is located in the South or in a mountainous region, it is important to verify its exact location, especially in relation to local infrastructures or shops. Indeed, according to the desired rhythm during the stay, a withdrawn campsite or, at least, off-center, will be a pledge of calm and relaxation. On the contrary, a campsite a few steps from a lively city center will facilitate daily or night outings. This research will also identify other possible nuisances (such as a motorway or nearby railways) or prohibitive elements (such as having to cross a road to get from the campsite to the beach, for example).
Customer reviews:
In the end, before validating a reservation, a final check of the opinions listed on different sites can always be beneficial. Even if we should not take everything at face value: a general vision should emerge!
If it is always difficult to choose accommodation that you do not know, with these few elements, you will at least be sure to exclude, from the list of campsites from which to choose, those that do not correspond at all to your needs and your desires.
