THE REGION

In the surrounding area, the region offers a multitude of activities!

Campers can easily access the lake beaches located just 100 meters from the campsite and enjoy the joys of swimming, practicing water sports or fishing. The Salles sur Verdon nautical base, located 300 meters from the campsite, offers windsurfing lessons, catamarans, and many other water activities.

The surrounding area also offers magnificent routes for cyclists, as well as horseback riding, paragliding, and climbing outings.

Go meet the locals, browse the Provence-scented aisles of the small village markets or, even, enrich yourself with the know-how of local artisans!

Le village “Les Salles sur Verdon” can be reached on foot in 2 minutes. A village marked by history. In the 70s, a dam was built to provide the region with drinking water and its electrification. And, in 1974, the ancient village of Salles-sur-Verdon was swallowed up by the impoundment of the artificial Lake of Sainte-Croix. The new village, peaceful and charming, rebuilt on a small promontory overlooking the lake, in an exceptional environment, offers numerous possibilities for discovery: botanical trail, historical trail, numerous outdoor activities and a nautical base, there are local stores, a bakery, a butcher, a mini market, a souvenir shop, a hairdresser, and a Provençal market every Thursday morning. The village also offers pétanque courts, tennis courts, and a bicycle park. The village media library welcomes tourists several afternoons a week, offering a selection of books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and games. Walking tours are also offered around the village.

À Aups, located 20 minutes by car from the campsite, you will find a supermarket, a pharmacy, a health center, as well as numerous shops.

The sublime Verdon Gorges -the most beautiful canyon in Europe!- just five kilometers from the campsite, are a must-see destination for nature lovers sauvage.

You can discover them by canoe, pedal boat or by taking one of the many hiking trails. Several whitewater activities are available, such as rafting, canyoning, aquatic hiking, and hydrospeed. Additionally, climbing sites can be found in “La Palud” and “Aiguines”.

For nature lovers, the Verdon Regional Natural Park offers a variety of landscapes, picturesque villages like "Moustiers-Sainte-Marie", vast fields of lavender on the plateau of "Valensole," the treasures of "Provence Verte".

And, if you want a little more freshness and escape the heat of the sometimes formidable southern sun, take a cultural break in the villages and museums around the lake. Do not miss the Verdon Gorges Prehistory Museum in the village of Quinson, the museum of the wood turners in Aiguines or the Earthenware Museum in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie.

Book your stay today at Camping Les Pins and live a memorable experience in harmony with nature and enjoy all the treasures of the region!
