Far from being reduced to its coasts and Barcelona, ​​Catalonia also delivers its character in its hinterland. Direction the heart of the province and the pre-coastal mountains of Sierra de Montsant, classified as a natural park and located about 70 km from the Costa Daurada.

At the foot of mountains and limestone cliffs with rounded shapes and shades of gray and ocher undulate valleys carpeted with greenery, while at the bottom of the canyons flow peaceful rivers. A little further on, the vines are laid out in terraces, an image of the local wine-making tradition.

Since the Middle Ages, monastic communities and hermits have taken up residence in this landlocked pastoral region. They settled here, sheltered by the mountains, in caves or cavities dug into the side of the rock. A slew of medieval monasteries and hermitages remain from this settlement.

All in curves and colors, the mountains of the Sierra de Montsant are a small hiking paradise. The peaceful paths bathed in the sun give off the scent of the garrigue, and on the balconies of Priorat, natural terraces allow you to gaze at the majestic peaks of Catalonia.
