You can discover: The Cañón del Río Vero, emblem of the town of Alquézar which is considered one of the most beautiful in the Sierra de Guara. Between the towns of Lecina and Alquézar, the river shapes the limestone rock. The water infiltrates the rock and, dissolving it, creates shapes that give it its characteristic beauty and mysticism. These landscapes have always had great importance for human beings. In addition to having been an important communication route, along its route we can find shelters with cave paintings of the 3 styles that exist in the Iberian Peninsula: Paleolithic, Levalloisian and Schematic. In 1998 they were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. If you come to Alquézar, do not miss the opportunity to discover this magnificent place. The castle-collegiate The town of Alquézar owes its name to the Arabic toponym al-Qsar which means fortress. Jalaf ibn Rasid, Arab leader, raised it at the beginning of the XNUMXth century as a defensive enclave against the cores of Pyrenean Christian resistance. Its visit allows us to know, through its collegiate church, its chapels, its cloister and its museum, the evolution of this monument from the XNUMXth century to the middle of the XNUMXth century.
